Afraid to open Author Copies -- Enchanted Ever After

Yes, I am afraid to open my author copies of Enchanted Ever After. At four points in the book, I wanted a different font.

The copy editor got this, my editor got this, and we had several major conversations with the art department (apparently they do the special fonts) as to what font we wanted since we were limited by their software. I wanted a cursive font with connected letters, like so:

By the time I got the final edits, I was stunned to see that there was no special font, after all that effort by so many. I contacted everyone I needed to, hoped I found all the places, and sent it in on a wave of exhaustion.

I'm not sure everything made it.

So, like, I haven't even opened the boxes...

I guess I should nerve myself and do that.

A New Way of Looking at Enchanted Ever After

A new way of looking at Enchanted Ever After, really highlights the book idea:

Happy Monday of a short work week (for those of you not self-employed)!

First Signing, The Big Bang http://www.lindajoffehull.com/

First Signing, The Big Bang

I went to the first signing of my friend, Linda Joffe Hull, last night. HUGE turnout, which was wonderful and Linda did a fabulous job with the intro, reading The Big Bang, and answering questions. Not to mention the after party!

Anyway, here's the blurb:

At Melody Mountain Ranch, the local residents are too busy with home shopping parties, Fundamentalism-Light, and each other’s business to notice their superficially well-constructed houses are literally rotting beneath them. Secret affairs, teen witchcraft, and a power-hungry homeowner’s board have their personal lives deconstructing even faster.

Please, if this appeals to you, buy it and ENJOY! The humor is WICKED.

Negotiations

I know I've been a little preoccupied the last couple of months. From my previous posts you must know that I've been working on a new proposal. I will say that negotiations are going on, but not for what or with whom.

Good wishes and blessings accepted!

Flash Drives

I love flash drives, and the nicer looking they are, the more I love them. Buying a flash drive makes me feel secure, and I just purchased a 64G on ebay for a pretty good (standard auction) sum.

I like having them around and have a special place I keep them (in the front of an old plastic 3.5 diskette drive holder).

Unfortunately I lose them fairly often (I once misplaced my tiniest at a hotel business office area and when I went back it was gone), and occasionally give them away.

My largest currently is 32K and holds the backup of my new computer (the OS or something, whatever they wanted to backup).

So 64K looked good...but I was awed by 128K, and now have bids (which may or may not stand) on two of them. (Will tell you later). I am fickle and loves my memory.

There are flash drives that look like Transformer Tigers, and other kewl stuff. There are flash drives that look like bullets and gold bricks and cute animals. I like those that are streamlined best.

I would like to say that I keep them for one book/series only, but I lie. I would like to say that I keep them organized, but that is untrue, too. I DO back my files up regularly to them (two at once), since I can, with one click of a toolbar icon macro (wordperfect, remember, though I'm sure other wp programs could write a macro for them).

And that's enough about flash drives...but they are cute, useful, and make me smile when I buy them.

Sunrise

Still gray despite the sunrise and I have real trouble writing on gray days, much more productive on sunny days...

Have a good morning/afternoon!

Today I am in the armchair and in my clothing layers.

Still lovely for this landlocked girl!

South Carolina Retreat

Yes, I am here again this year, and, once again, in another room. Lovely! Fantastic! And since this is supposed to be the nicest day of the week (more storm pics tomorrow and Weds, I think), I have renewed my many, many pics of the sea.

Here is what I'm looking at RIGHT NOW.

I am not really good with writing on a pillow on my lap rather than a desk (and I MUST find a good lap desk, with legs). But I'm giving it my best shot, and getting work done on Heart Fortune.

I like looking at the ocean, but it's the sound that is so very wonderful...think I'll go out and dictate sometime this week...

Halloween and Samhain

Happy Samhain today for Celta fans! I don't know if you like to read/re-read stories that take place at this time of year, but reminding you all that my novella that won the Best of the Best in the Lories, Heart and Soul, took place now...it's the story of Genista Furze in her new life (after we see her in Heart Fate). Heart and Soul is in the Hearts and Swords collection, and emphasizes Halloween and Samhain.

Thanks all!
Robin
