Heart Series -- Heart Journey

Ok, I had a comment I needed to moderate, which was confusing since I think I only locked down old ones...in any case to respond to it about the Heart books: Heart Change is coming in November, Heart Journey will be out in 2011, and I sold a third at the same time, currently entitled Heart Hope (which mentor dislikes).

I anticipate that Heart Hope will skip about 15 years and be about Laev Hawthorn (who I torture in Heart Change).

I've gone back and forth about doing scenes to set up for more of the series that haven't been sold yet (scenes I've written with Antenn Moss/Blackthorn) in Heart Journey and think I will include them instead of putting them on my website...at least that's my decision for now.

I looked at my previous calendar and I don't like it. I think a month should begin with dark twinmoons, go to full twinmoons and back to dark. I can't recall if I've ever explained this cycle. Sigh.

And since dates ARE Lunar, this has screwed up my whole timeline.

Today I was looking back to the Holly-Blackthorn Family Tree (which will NOT be in Heart Change since that is the "other side" of the duel). Most particularly to Straif's and Mitchella's children.

I decided that it would be wrong to give them a child in between books. ;) Comments?

As of Heart Fate they have three (I think).

May you enjoy all the children in your life today.
Robin

Why not let Mitchella have the entire house full as she wants. I expect her to perhaps end at fiften children during the first 25 years of marriage. Then she might slow down.

...I hope I read wrong and we don't have to wait for Heart Journey till 2011 instead of 2010 !
Please tell me it is a mistake!!
As to how many children Michella and Straif have... well sorry but I don't care! that is not a particularly interesting info to me.. they can adopt as many as they can afford and are available from the orphanages?

Thinking here, yes, brain was mush. Heart Journey should be in 2010 sometime. Probably the fall, unless I get it done earlier...

I'd thought 6-7 children, but that can be changed....

Oh, good! so I get my yearly fix of Celta as well as Harmony!
Find the information about calendars and phases of the moon rather interesting. Have a record with folkloric music from different ethnic groups in China celebrating the different Lunar Festivals, it was lovely - I think you'd love it, unfortunatelly being a record I cannot make a copy! I think the title was that.. Phases of the Moon. Lots of wonderful flute and other musical instruments different from the European ones. May be it is still floating in the internet and you can hear it.
Well, thanks again

When is Heart Fate coming out in re-issued mass market format? (smaller book form?) Like all of your other Heart books have?

Hi Robin - by end of Heart Fate - they had 3 kids - Antenn, plus 2 adopted daughters (couldnt find mention of names).

I would have figure on at least 6 adopted with a few fosters as well. As soon as her kids start giving her grandchildren or the other new family members start having kids she'll slow down though.

You know, even though I ENJOYED their book, I never liked mitchella. I thougt Straif deserved better. But then I also thought he was an idiot. So I guess it averages out Anyway, I was annoyed with her, so I don't care how many children they have (though I never expected them to have more than 4 children - 6-7 seems like a lot). Though I must say I liked them alot better than Ailim and Blackthorn, both of whom I actively disliked which made it difficultto get through the whole book =this wasn't the case for Mitchella and Straif) and hope they stay far away ... though I really DO like that ship.

For children ... what about Lark & Holm and more for D'anish and T'ash ... And what about Genista... I know she "rode off into the sunset" but her back story was really intriguing, and it would be cool to hear more about it. And about her future.

Anyway-YAY for the 2011 book!! :)

More importantly

I am with your mentor on the title of Heart Hope. It has a terrible ring to it when I say it outloud.

Since all of the older main characters are taking a back seat, I don't think it matters if and when Mitchella and Straif get children. That is just a matter of a little line in the course of the story, after all, we aren't "around" when D'Ash and T'Ash have children.

Can't wait for the new one....

Ok, thanks all. Let's see if I can get these comments straight. First, I think I'll probably keep Straif and Mitchella down to a dozen or so. Not sure, that can develop.

Second, Heart Fate won't be out in mass market paperback until next year is what I was told. Why, I wasn't informed.

Third, I'll look for Phases of the Moon. Sounds like something emusic might have.

Tine, I will reconsider Heart Hope again. Most likely my editor will get her sour look with the title and I'll have to change it.

Now for a couple of teasers:
D'Ash is pregnant and ready to deliver in Heart Change. Avellana Hazel (at 7) and Vinni T'Vine also play a large part in Heart Change, and so far a toddler is in Heart Journey. So there are some children being around.

And did I say that my new person to torture is Laev Hawthorn?

Thanks again,
Robin

Heart Hope, huh?
That does have a very J K Rowling-picking-out-names kind of thing going on.

Alternate words for "Hope":
anticipate, aspire, assume, await, be sure of, believe, cherish, contemplate, count on, deem likely, depend on, desire, expect, feel confident, foresee, hang in, have faith, hold, keep fingers crossed, knock on wood, look at sunny side, look forward to, pray, presume, promise oneself, rely, suppose, surmise, suspect, sweat it, sweat it out, sweat*, take heart, think to, trust, watch for, wish

Some are completely unsuitable, (going by your words of one syllable rule on previous titles) which leaves you with:
Heart Trust, Heart Wish, and Heart Desire (although Desire is two syllables - I like the way it looks)

"Heart Hope" makes me twitch. I can sympathize with your editor. :)

I am in love with the whole Heart series (though I agree with above, something about Straiff's story made it my least fav). Celta is such a lovely and fully constructed world and has an incredible balance of magic, tradition, drama, and humor (especially the Fams!). It's amazing how well structured and well written all the stories are and I love how easily they seem to build and connect. Flawless. Can't wait for more. I made all my friends read them. Thank you Robin Owens!!!

I think the reason Straig and Mitchella's story didn't hit the high note is because neither one knew they were heartmates. In the other books at least one of the pair knew an incredible destined love was upon them and with Straif and Mitchella it's an afterthought. Not like the other books. Still an interesting story though. All the characters go through strong conflicts. I miss Trif and Winterberry. How are they doing?

Ah, thanks! I have a special place in my own heart for Heart Choice (Straif and Mitchella's book). It was the last "Heart" book that I wrote while I was working full time. One of the scenes just opened out of me that I didn't know about (I know that description is bad, but this is June 27 and if you look at my blog for that you can tell why I am discombobulated).

Trif and Winterberry are doing fine. I hadn't thought about children, yet, but that's a lovely idea, I will ruminate upon.

Though Straif wasn't NAMED as being in the books, he, as a guardsman assigned to the FirstFamilies, has been mentioned in Heart Change.

Take care, and again, thanks for all the comments.
