Name A Character/Decide His or Her Fate in a Robin D. Owens Book!

Name A Character/Decide His or Her Fate in a Robin D. Owens Book!

The last battle is upon us...

ECHOES IN THE DARK (Luna Books, January 2009) is the final book of Robin D. Owens' award-winning "Summoning" series that Huntress Reviews said "is among the most joyful series of novels in any genre. It deserves to be considered a classic."

Now YOU can choose the name of a character (with a minor speaking part) in Echoes In The Dark.

More, YOU can determine whether this character lives through the final battle with the evil alien Dark, or dies a heroic death.

Note: This is an equal opportunity battle, the character can be male or female. Even more input will be considered from you if you're familiar with the Summoning series. Character name and fate must be chosen as soon as possible as the book is under deadline.

May you all enjoy the Power of your imagination.

Thank you,

Robin

Note: If you use a real person's name you will have to sign a release.

I choose Liara (Lee-are-ah). She will be a seamaster who helps build the ship. Possibility of romance thing with Koz. Survives the battle.

I know in the chat that i attended you said that you might not have time to write Koz's love story, but just the possibility would, i think, satisfy most readers. If that thread isn't partially wrapped up we are gonna want another book. LOL.

I think that looking after Koz would be nice too.
What about Rafael Bighands, dying heroically? or Emilio?
This is fun!!!!!

Hi, Valerie, I didn't make it clear that this is an auction item on Brenda Novak's auction for the benefit of research into diabetes.

Koz will actually fall in love with a mirror magician, I think, don't know for sure. As I said, if I'd had the 6 books I would have squeezed his story in the last, but I simply can't do that.

Echoes In The Dark is currently almost 1/2 and 1/2 Jikata and Raine and their stories, so adding one more would make me crazy.

Maybe someday I might be able to do a novella or a short story, I'll have to look at my contract, but I think I might be able to do this if I don't charge for it...OTOH I may be done with Lladrana once the book is over and move on.

Love, Robin

Do you not like the short story/novella form? There are a few back stories I'd love to see, from both series: especially, T'ash' story from six to re-establishing his house. How Fam's became sentient. Things like that. It seems these kind of stories would fit wonderfully in novella, short story form. And would give us an extra book or two a year from you, like Harrison, Hamilton, Butcher, and Armstrong. And it would increase your output from two book's a year to possible four with a novella or short story from each universe.

I wonder if you've ever considered doing something along the lines of Mercedes Lackey or Marion Zimmer Bradley and create a series of books where you edit stories submitted by other authors based on your universe/characters?

Tannun,

Thanks. I actually think I could work in novella form for those stories, but selling them is another whole matter. My contract is currently for books, and when I was offered a novella, I opted to do a contemporary paranormal to match the others in an anthology (Road of Adventure in What Dreams May Come, I took the cover off my book bar on the blog).

I've only been offered that one novella opportunity due to writing fantasy romance as opposed to vampires and werewolves and such, I think.

Also, I'm not nearly "big" enough for others to want to play in my universe, and I still love my worlds enough that I want to be in the sandbox by myself, not to mention being financially unable to split a book and live.

I'm not sure I'd do more with T'Ash than the interviews on my Worlds page, at least not until he was on the Vengeance Stalk and hooked up with Holm.

As for the Celtan animals, I just know that they've been sentient for a long time.

Thanks for making me think!

As long as I'm mentioning ideas, I have two more :) I'd love to see one of you stories from the cat's point of view. See what they really think of their famman and famwoman as they make their heart journey.

And I know there has to be a queen of fams out there somewhere. With a unique flair that lets her know to have a Feral pair up, or send kits to D'Ash for pairing. It wouldn't surprise me to find out her name was D'Robin, and she spent her days peering over the shoulder over a dreamer, who creates stories, and send the Fam just as this dreamer needs one!

She'd have to be named D'Robin, her books seem to be released seasonal. See a Robin, find a book!

LOL, Tannun! I don't know about the Queen of Fams...I see all the Fams of Celta as pretty scattered and unorganized...though there is a rumor network...maybe like writers, indeed.

As for the cat's POV, again, I could do a story, but probably not a full book because people really want to identify with characters and I try to make cats really act like cats...pretty self absorbed.

Maybe someday for my website, a little bit...actually I have an idea for using Zanth in a free project that may or may not come to completion.

Hi, Marie!

Yes, there are still pairs in Echoes In The Dark, but...I didn't say that the characters would be Marshalls or Chevaliers, did I? ;)

Since my cast is so large, I do have a limited amount of NEW people I can introduce.

Thanks,
Robin
