Branding?

Any ideas on how to brand me? LOL, I need to be able to update my site myself, so I am working on a redesign. I've looked at (probably) a hundred websites and my inner graphics are out of date.

Most folk have branding, too "Sizzling evocative romantic suspense" or some such (I made that up, I hope).

I am really hoping to go with a "path" type theme, garden paths going in different directions -- I've been doing rough mock ups of what I want (which might or might not be possible). So, if someone comes up with a brand for me (Journey into Fantasy with Robin D. Owens ??? or my standard blessing "follow your heart and magic will come" or "may a little magic always grace your life") that I actually use, I will send them arcs for the next 2 years.

As for formatting, I'm thinking 2 column wordpress, somehow linked to this blog, and with the reads, worlds and bookshelf pages.

Love to all,
Robin

You create some of the coolest worlds in your story...I would definitely dive into your world building back ground info that you pull together.

There's a saying to lead someone up the garden path in England which actually means to mislead them! You could have "Let Robin D. Owens lead you up the Garden Path to a place of Magic" or similar.

Actually my friend just reminded me that we also have the saying in UK of a primrose path (it's actually Shakespearean) which is the easy way of life, but Primrose is a plant so. ... you could have the different paths, one to Celta (Primrose, or other P letter flower), one to Luna books (lunar? or Lladrana Way), an actual mystic circle for Mystic Circle, a labyrinth/maze for the home page ('cos it's the many branching off points spot), a wishing well for links (I don't have a reason, just because!), a bower-type/offering spot (like Roman wayside shrines) for your bio ('cos you're kind of the goddess) etc etc. I'm going to think more while I walk my dog. Oooh, I love when we get to contribute - so much fun!

Robin D. Owens Paths to other worlds?

Wow, folks! I've changed my mind several times, and may do so again, but I've decided to keep the look very simple and not as romancy as most of the sites I looked at...because I don't only write romance, though I know I have a "romance" style that can make it difficult for people who like edgy books to read.

I'm looking at Patty Briggs' site, but this blog won't be on the first page...linked and maybe included but not on page 1. But the new and upcoming and reading order -- then a book page like hers. It hurt that I couldn't update the bookshelf page and move stuff around like it should be done.

Donna, you are awesome, and if I had the skill, and wordpress allowed it, I'd use your ideas...

Robin, PC Cast had something interesting. She used her a few of her covers ( or parts of them) to lead to her different series, both YA and Adult. Maybe you can do something similar? Or combine my idea and Donnas. Use a photo of a forked path that leads to the symbols?

I'd love to see your website with a books page like the one on Briggs' site. It is one of the most easy to use & reference bibliography pages I've ever seen. The Celta timeline posted a while back on this blog would also be very useful if it were available on the webpage in some format.

Have you ever considered doing a genealogy for the Fams? Zanth has been pretty darn prolific!

P.S. Some of the "branding" I've seen & liked are:
Anne Bishop: Novels of dark fantasy
The Worlds of Anne McCaffrey
C. L. Wilson: Embrace the Magic
Lynn Kurland: Take a Journey

Something similarly short & evocative could be appropriate for your branding as well.

Robin D. Owens: Magical Pathways
Robin D. Owens: Paths thru Magic
Robin D. Owens: Summoning the Magic
The Exotic Realms of Robin D. Owens
Robin D. Owens: Magic Beckons
Robin D. Owens: Worlds Created
Robin D. Owens: Thru the Archway
